RUN LEVEL

Your running ability, estimated from your runs.

A model estimate from 1 to 10, with an evidence basis showing how well it is supported.

What RUN LEVEL actually is

RUN LEVEL is a model estimate of your running ability on a scale from 1 to 10. Suitable runs provide evidence; its amount, variety and recency determine the evidence basis.

Not every workout counts as level evidence. The app considers measurement quality and effort, among other factors. The recency of your data also matters; your level and evidence basis can change.

What it's not

Not badges

There's nothing to collect for showing up.

Not XP

No grinding a number up by volume alone.

Not streak points

Missing a day doesn't punish you.

The six categories

Your RUN LEVEL places you in one of six tiers. The tiers are a read-out of the number, not a separate system to climb.

Why you might start at Calibrating

With little suitable data, there is no evidence-based level yet. The app distinguishes a provisional estimate from a level calculated from your runs.

With enough suitable runs, the app can calculate your RUN LEVEL. Meetbasis describes the supporting evidence; it does not guarantee an exact estimate.

New runs are assessed against your existing evidence. Confirmation rules limit how quickly a change in level is adopted.

Progress that shows at every scale

Day to day it's a decimal moving up or down. Month to month it's a category. Over time it's your personal best — the number that's genuinely yours to beat.
